One of the special features we are able to provide here in Guatemala is sharing the unique beauty in ways not available to the common traveler. We are also unique in that we offer clothing optional vacations to sites never before available for this purpose. These tours cater to groups that may prefer to remain clothed OR those of us who enjoy a natural all over tan.

On the Rio Dulce we have three means of transportation. A 36 foot Catamaran, for groups of up to 20 people, a 2o foot launch for up to 8 people and an SUV for road trips. And we have access to larger forms of transportation for those larger groups with a wander lust.

The following links on this page are underlined and describe the details of some tours and their pricing. Customized, special packages are also available on request.

    Road Trips
In and around the area of the Rio Dulce are many short trips of merit well worth seeing while you are here but possibly not accessible by water. They are not clothing optional, but it would be a shame not to see these places while you are here. For that reason we list just a few of them here for your convenience and to better plan your visit. If you have questions about more options, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Castillo San Felipe Built by the Spaniards in the 1600's, this castle was used primarily to capture pirates of the Caribbean entering Lago Izabal. When a pirate ship was spotted coming up river, a chain was stretched across the mouth of the lake from this fortress to prevent entrance. Then the battle would begin!

Quirigua stelae Monoliths These huge stone monolithic sculptures, weighing up to 65 tons, were artfully carved without the benefit of metal tools. Stone chisels, driven by other stones or wooden mallets, were the only tools available; and yet the Mayan sculptors achieved not only a high level of artistry, but also a remarkable degree of naturalism and refined detail. Most of the monuments face north, allowing the early morning sun to highlight the relief of the carvings. Our price for this tour includes your entry fee to the park, guide, transportation and return to Rio Dulce. Quirigua is about a 45 minute drive from Rio Dulce in private transportation.

Livingston Reachable only by water, the boat trip to Livingston itself is a majestic ride through a lake to a jungle covered canyon. Livingston (populated largely by Garifuna descent), is a colorful town of cobblestone streets, quaint shops and restraunts. An excellent spot for the souvenier hunter.

El Ciricote Botanical Garden For the plant or rainforest lover, just outside of Fronteras is one mans dream come true. Through many years of hard labor he has reforested one section of clear cut forest to its natural state. Proving to others that reforestation is possible in a relatively short period. He has also created a seed bank of endangered Guatemalan fauna to help save the rainforest. Now this garden is a training ground for other concerned people to learn from his efforts and try to duplicate this worldwide. You have a chance here to visit the garden and perhaps even adopt a tree and get a plaque and certificate of that tree to support this effort.

Bird watching tours For the birdwatching enthusiast, Rio Dulce Guatemala is home to many species of Jungle and Rainforest exotic Birds. And,not far from Rio Dulce but off the main travel way we know of a special sanctuary where the birds are abundant. This place is Cerro San Gil and it is the home to one of Guatemals's foremost authorities on local birds and their habitat. Upon scheduling we can arrange for him to guide you, show you, and explain the various exotic birds you will be seeing. By water or land, we will take you there.
